Say hello to purr-ecious Poppy!

Poppy came to us from another shelter, where she was at risk of euthanasia because of her shy demeanor. The sad truth is that some cats just aren't able to "promote" themselves, as well as others. Kind of like people, really! These are the individuals that are overlooked because they're more reserved, or lacking confidence, or just plain old frightened. And, unfortunately, some shelters need to place time limits on how long they keep their cats...because (also, unfortunately) there are always more cats needing shelter than there is shelter space! Luckily, EHS has no time limits for our cats, and now Poppy is trying to get comfortable in foster...and can take all the time she needs!

Poppy was shy in her intake, as was to be expected, and had to be towelled as she was quite scared (understandably). Once she was under the towel, though, the distinct sound of purring could be heard! After a week in foster, she is still hiding, and is quite reserved around people. If startled, she will hiss and swat. But the volume of her undercover purring spoke volumes to us. With a bit of time, understanding and patience, we believe that her confidence will bloom, and she'll prove to be a perennial feline friend to her furr-ever family.

As Poppy has only recently entered our care, we don't know how she will do with other cats or other animals. At this time, however, Poppy would not be suited to a home with small children, who wouldn't be able to read her cues. A family with cat experience who are prepared to help Poppy along in gaining her confidence would be ideal.

This feline flowergirl simply needs people that understand she needs some nurturing. Are you ready to tend to Poppy? Don't underestimate the satisfaction that comes with helping a shy cat grow confident and secure and the reward you'll harvest when you are able to befriend her!
The adoption fee for a single cat at EHS is $150. Take home a feline friend for your kitty and the adoption fee for the pair is $250! Each of our cats are spayed/neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, snap tested for FIV/FeLV, dewormed, and flea treated prior to adoption. Kittens are not spayed or neutered until 6 months of age, but the cost of spay/neuter will be covered as part of the adoption.
Please contact for more details about Poppy, or fill out our online form. An EHS representative will be pleased to help.
