DAISY IS NOT READY FOR ADOPTION YET
Meet Daisy! A sweet five-year old Chihuahua with an enviable fawn-colored coat, Daisy has recently been put into CCRT’s foster care. In that time, we have learned a lot about this sweet, but shy, gal.
Soon after coming into our care she was spayed, and, not surprisingly, wasn’t the happiest camper about that. This girl’s whole life had turned upside down in a few days, and she wasn’t sure what to think! Thanks to her foster siblings (both Chihuahuas and cats!) who’ve made her feel welcome, she has to come around to her foster mom, but foster dad still needed to work for her trust.
This cute girl is timid and will keep her distance, but LOVES attention once she trusts the person. She has become her foster mom’s shadow and follows her around to make sure she is still there. She gets excited and chatty when it is time to go for a walk and when she comes back, she can’t wait to play fetch with her favourite plush squeaky toy - which is pretty much any soft toy that squeaks. She likes to sit next to her foster mom on the couch and take her naps with the rest of the furry crew but she isn’t interested in playing with the dogs, not yet anyways.
Did we mention that Daisy is fully housetrained? This smart girl picked up the routine very quickly with only a couple minor #2 accidents until she got settled in. She will snap at people if feeling overwhelmed, so needs a home comfortable dealing with fear-based behaviour in dogs.
Daisy is still a bit unsure of her foster dad, especially when he is standing up and walking around. She will keep her distance and give a raspy bark or two but is curious about him, which is a good sign. She prefers when he is sitting or lying down in bed, then its cuddles and kisses galore for him. It’s possible she is nervous about his height. Daisy will need some patience if being adopted into a family with men.

Daisy is nervous around children, so we will be seeking a forever home with adults only for her.

We really want to give Daisy the time she needs to settle in and relax. That way we can help her get passed her insecurities and grow into the happy, well-adjusted dog we know she can be. Daisy is not available for adoption yet, but check back soon!
