Shih Tzu

Meet Joe, or Little Joe as we like to call him because he is only 12 lbs. Joe, a sweet Shih Tzu, came to us from a shelter in Montreal where he was surrendered due to his family's health issues. No one was able to take care of him which was evident. He was so matted that the Montreal shelter had him shaved down and he looked like a completely different dog. No one would have recognized him. No one.

As we've gotten to know Joe he is a delightful little guy with, unfortunately, some health problems. He had very rotted teeth and was not neutered. We've taken care of all that. The one thing we can't provide a miracle for are his kidneys. Little Joe has kidney disease. There is, however, treatment that can be done to manage this and dogs can live years with it. He have started him on a life long medication to help his kidneys preserve much needed protein. With this medication he now has a chance, a real chance, to have a happy life. To play, love and go for long walks with his humans the way it's supposed to be. Joe is waiting to meet the family who will be there for him. And never again will someone not recognize him as the stellar dog that he is.
